Fuzzy Antlers

Fuzzy antlers seen through the slats of my wooden fence

the popping sound of ivy as he pulls for his morning meal

from leaves that have found their way to the other side

from where I sit only a few feet away

And my morning meal

as I drink this meditation of massive pines

above my tiny, enclosed preserve

my very, very own

filled with flowers

and insects

and birds

I hear the turkeys behind me

As they follow this regular routine of the deer

Walking

Gobbling

Eating

Birds call and sing and fly to one another

as if there’s an embroidery thread path

leading from tree to tree

The loud buzz of carpenter bees

and wing sound and chirps

of fast fluttering hummingbirds

is such a joy dance

Regular visitors

the swallowtail

honeybees

and recent hawk moth

make my heart sing exuberantly

in harmony with these flowers
